my BF is having a semi dressy party at the start of the year and i want to wear this black cocktail type tea length dress. because it will be cold i want to pair it with either a fishnet stocking or printed opaque tights. not printed like in a color but a design on the material. the problem is im in my late 20's and i feel this might be a bit of a young look for me. im pretty fashion forward and savvy so i don't want to make this faux pas. a lot of the younger girls wear them and while everyone constantly mistakes me for 21 or 22, i don't want to be the old chick who is trying to dress young. so can i get away with this? if not what else do you suggest?There is an age limit with some of your choices. Fishnet stockings are a bit slutty and besides they wont keep you warm. I say wear a maxi dress and a heavy coat, when you get to the venue leave your heavy coat at the coat check or closet of your BF. Then wear a shawl that you brought along.I don't think it would be too young looking as long as the tights are classy . . . I am 27 and I wear fishnets, but I only wear ones with a fine weave, like these (I like both the nude & the black ones):

The most important thing with fishnets or patterned tights is quality--they can be classy and edgy or look very cheap & played out, depending on how well they're made/designed, IMO.I would think that any of these would be okay and not too "young" looking.
