The Rocking League Cup

As mentioned in the Rock Hard Championship Challenge Cup thread, I was thinking of dropping the Rocking League Cup and there were only two posts against the idea.

So 21 other managers didn't really care.

As I have a lot of updating to do I was thinking about how to liven up the Rocking League Cup, with a change of format.

I've spent this afternoon working on an outline and just have to see if I can get it into the fixture generating program somehow.

Starting on Gameweek 24 the cup is going to rock, like a real cup should; with some tricky customisation:

We'll find out who the real winners are by turning losers into winners and seeing if the winners can survive without being losers.

A cross between a ladder and double elimination bracket; with a Rock Hard twist.

Gameweek 24 sets the ball rolling with Matches 1-12; where match 1 is the two bottom seeds and Match 12 the two top seeds.

There's four gameweeks to jostle for a winning position before eliminations begin.

I confused myself a plenty while trying to put it all together on seperate scraps of paper, then trying to deciper all the scrawls and matching the letters and numbers that looked like they'd work while looking back over the ones that didn't but probably could as well.

If the Rocking League Cup plays out well, is proved popular, and there are 24 drafted teams again next season then I propose the tournament continue between the three leagues thus:

At Gameweek 3 update:
Seed the 24 teams according to 'total early-season points' (with teams level on points then sorted alphabetically).
Final on Gameweek 18 (before Christmas).

[Teams then have the Christmas Cup of Good Cheer to look forward to].

At Gameweek 22 update:
Seed 24 teams according to 'that week's scores' (with teams level on points then sorted alphabetically).
Run Cup Gameweeks 23-37.

Gameweek 38:
Play between both winning finalists for the Gold Cup.
(If both finals won by same team - Gold Cup is automatic).

Play between both losing finalists for the Crystal Vase.
(If runner-up twice - Crystal Vase is automatic).

If both Gold Cup and Crystal Vase are automatic, play for Community Shield.

If the finals were between the same two managers, with each winning once, winner of Gameweek 38 gets the Gold Cup and runner up the Crystal Vase.
Community Shield is not contested!

If one manager automatically wins the Gold Cup or Crystal Vase, they will be playing the 'winner of the other game' (in a three-way tie) for the Community Shield.

What are the odds on all trophies going to the Jones family?

For seedings, we'll use the last gameweek's scores (as posted in the forum); for a rough indication of current form.

Those level on scores are then sorted alphabetically.
