I've heard that he had a relationship with the sultan Mehmed II, but didn't Mehmed have like, three wives? O_o
Please, someone explain :)
Radu cel Frumos (Radu The Handsome) (1435-1475), was the younger brother of Vlad Tepes. They were both sons of Vlad II Dracul.
In 1444 Radu went with his father and Vlad Tepes to visit the Ottoman Sultan Murad in Adrianopole, where they kept as hostage in fortress at Egrigoz ,as a part of a treaty singed by their father. The 2 brothers where later taken to be educated in logic, the Quran the Tutkish language, in trained, in warfare and riding horses.
Vlad Dracul are come-back in Wallahia, but Radu, however, fell to the seduction of the Ottoman court, and remained with the Turks for moment apparently of this volition, and willingly converted to Islam. Here is evidence tat he had become the lover of the Sultan,s heir, the later Mohamed II.
Radu, by then 26 years of age had been living in relative confort in the Ottoman court.
The Ottomans placed Radu on the throne of Tara Romaneasca. Radu ruled from 1462 until 1473. In 1474, Radu regained the throne, and retained,it until the following year when he died of SYPHILLIS.
Officially, Radu left a daughter , Maria Mangop Voichita, who afterwards became the wife of Stephen III of Moldavia.
Possibly bi-sexual but homosexual seems a stretch given the fact he had a daughter(yes, she could have a different father, etc but we don't know for sure.)
